It is a joke reading that Hisham wanted MCA to prove its relevance to Chinese community. Both MCA and UMNO are not relevant to the Chinese community because it has moved beyond Barisan's racially based model.
Hulu Selangor's statistics should have given both Hisham and Dr Chua Soi Lek the clearest indication that the coalition must change or face continuous alienation from the community.
Unlike UMNO, the party (MCA) does not have any arsenal or propaganda to attract the community. MCA cannot call for Chinese supremacy without offending UMNO. It is natural for the most dominant race based party to erode the importance and relevance of other racially based parties in a coalition.
MCA should study its own political relevance if it continues to be meek and quiet. The community wanted to be treated as Malaysians of equal rights. The way they get to exercise their votes is the best chance to prove their equality - one man one vote!
Chua should understand that making some noises alone won't help his party. He needs to make a choice between being an equal partner to UMNO (which is difficult because UMNO wants to take the lead now) or to go multiracial.
Time is ticking on MCA.

Hisham is a real joke. Sometimes really wonder whether he knows where his priority lies.
Honestly, the signal is clear, it is now up to UMNO Baru/BN to prove it is relevant to the Chinese Community, not for MCA to prove it is relevant to the coalition. If it is not relevant, UMNO Baru, can always sack the MCA. But, it just does not have the guts, or do they? For now, I see the Chinese parking their votes with PR for at least two GE, but, then it is too late. The numbers of new and young voters will make UMNO Baru/BN irrelevant, as these young generations has shown that they are not in favour of race base politics.
Perkasa and Ibrahim Ali, are rumoured to be working with the DAP to ensure the political demise of both the MCA, Gerakan and MIC. Just what tricks are Perkasa up to? If it is true they are working with the DAP, then it is indeed treacherous to the Malay race.
Perkasa said it championed the Malay cause, but, in Hulu Selangor, it campaigned for a non Malay against a true blue 100% Malay. What is the intention really? And then, it was alleged that they ask the Malays not to vote for a non Malay. Just what is what, Perkasa and King Frog?
Hindraf/HRP is following the footsteps of Perkasa. On one hand it is openly said to be fighting for the marginalized Indians, which had suffered much under the MIC, which is under the thumbs of UMNO Baru, but, again it is rumoured that HRP/Hindraf is secretly discussing with UMNO Baru. Now that MIC is slowly regaining its strength, Hindraf/HRP surely has got no chance. Surely, UMNO Baru is smart enough to understand what it means to be associated with an ultra racist group.
HRP/Hindraf has got no support at all from the Indian community now, perhaps, a few hundreds here and there and had never dared to reveal its membership. Even the Indians are deserting them in such huge numbers, indeed it is shocking. Honesty, remains the best policy, even in politics!

Agree with you, but you miss an important point, a leader caliber couple with moral credibility is the key to success. MCA charted their own destruction by toppling such leaders and putting in a tainted person as their president. In the Hulu Selangor by election the Chinese community there welcomed and supported DS Ong Tee Keat however ignore and reject the tainted president as well as other MCA leaders who seems to be untrustworthy, one way or other.
You cannot dismiss that Penang was able to forge ahead during the administration of Lim Chong Eu is all about leadership quality.....
Hisham should know why MCA us not able to speak up, after all Umno has not allow MCA or their partners to do so.
Umno decides on everything and even holds the senior positions in the cabinet. Above all Umno even appoints all the DGs (who run the daily affair) in the MCA or their partners' ministries These are just so all the non Umno 'control' ministries are really controlled and run by Umno.
So Hisham got the answer and he must stops blaming any body else for the lack of support Umno/BN are getting or might even soon not get any at all !
What he means is MCA should prove its relevance to BN. In that we have to agree.
MCA can only prove its relevance to BN (UMNO) by leaving that coalition, or forever remain stuck in the quagmire it is in.

Dear Mr MCA President and ex-Presidents, decades of silence and worse,apologetic for umno constant bullies of chinese community made most of us wanted to throw up. Also those fat side income you guys got were rewards for being obedient.Except for founder Tun Tan Siew Sin,nobody really cared for us except throwing a few carrots now and then.Clearly,there is no point whether MCA represent us or not as from grandfather to us now we received almost nothing except a lot of threats and scoldings from those warlords and now perkasa who dont gave a damn about chinese bcos the leaders are depended on them for survival.Dont continue to pretend chinese got say in government,we lost that respect long time ago.Dissolve MCA and deny perkasa and those ultra-hypocrites the enjoyment to score points by constant attacks on us for everything.Chinese dont need to play politics,just work hard,pay tax, and send the kids overseas away.We are really tired of being bogeymen for 50 years already.Dissolve MCA, have some pride left for us.

PKR is fighting an uphill battle. The party has recently been sold out and betrayed by some so called selfish and greedy leaders with questionable integrity. No matter what, at least, there is a slime chance that they can help check and prevent abuse by the present bunch of so called leaders running the country by voting them to Parliament. We must give our undivided support to them PR/PAS/DAP at all times under all circumstances for the sake of the country moving forward. We must irrespective.
Chua Soi Lek was a mistake. I mean most Chinese, especially what most people would call "grass root" find it an insult and disgrace someone who cheated on his wife, disgraced the family institution, does not repent and instead blames everyone else, and embarrassed the Chinese community with his antics can become leader of MCA. This coming from grown ups.
